Cinema Gourmet: Babette's Feast

Winner of Best Foreign Language Film in 1987, Babette’s Feast is at once a rousing paean to artistic creation, a delicate evocation of divine grace, and the ultimate film about food. This film is paired with a delicious tasting from Indigo Coastal Shanty as part of the Cinema Gourmet movie series.

Babette’s Feast tells the story of Babette, a 19th century Parisian political refugee who seeks shelter in a desolate Danish coastal town. Philippa and Martina, the elderly daughters of the town's long-dead minister, take Babette in. Philippa and Martina were once beautiful young women who'd forsaken their chances at romance and joy. Babette holds a secret that may very well allow the older ladies to have a second chance at life.
