"Trends" Opening Reception
to
Glynn Visual Arts Center 106 Island Drive, Saint Simons Island, Georgia 31522
Glynn Visual Arts will present works by six artists in a unique exhibition titled “Trends,” which will feature both two and three-dimensional works. The exhibition focuses on contemporary approaches to art as interpreted by noted artists from Georgia and Florida. Featured artists will be Suzanne Clements, Cookie Davis, Betty Gerson, Carly Hardy, Sandra Baker-Hinton, and Linda Wunder.
Contemporary art, first recognized in the mid-1960’s as a school of art, focused on how art was created and presented, rather than what was produced. The movement emphasizes ideas and concepts, rather than focusing on the portrayal of precious objects and the skills to create those images.
The exhibition is on display at GVA’s gallery at 106 Island Drive, St Simons Island from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Admission is free.
The public is invited to meet the artists who will be present at the complimentary opening reception. This reception will be held at the gallery from 5:30 - 7:00pm on Thursday, February 19. Jeffery LeMieux, GVA board member and Associate Professor of Art at the College of Coastal Georgia, will present a brief overview of contemporary trends in art in conjunction with the opening reception.
