Summer Island by Betty Anglin Smith
As part of Glynn Art Association’s focus on presenting new and intriguing artworks to the Golden Isles, they are partnering with The Parker Gallery in presenting the paintings and photographs created by a family of exceptional artists from Charleston, South Carolina. The Family Smith: Betty Anglin Smith and her Children’s View of the Coastal Lowcountry will be a dual showing during March at these two St. Simons Island galleries.
Betty Anglin Smith’s children are triplets; her daughters are painters, and her son is a photographer. Anglin Smith has an international reputation as an expressionistic painter of the coastal lowcountry, and her children are following in her footsteps as accomplished artists in their own right.
The opening reception is Thursday, March 6, at the Glynn Art Association Visual Arts Center. It will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Betty Anglin Smith speaking of her work, with a reception immediately following at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Anglin Smith and her children in attendance. The March 6 event is open to the public, and space will be limited; the artists’ respective works will be on display at each gallery until March 29.
