This year’s Island Players Young People’s Summer Workshop production of The Emperor’s New Clothes: The Musical will have you laughing your socks off! Karen Boettcher’s version of the classic fairy-tale is turned into a pop musical with eclectic styles ranging from 50s rock to 20s jazz to Celtic and more by Bill Francoeur. The musical is set in the kingdom of Glump and tells the story of the big-headed clothes-aholic, his three "lovely" daughters, two ingenious con artists, and an honest serving boy with high humor, fun music, and tastefully done “revelations.” The naked truth has never been funnier! Directed by Joan Harris and produced by Dawana Gibbs. Performances take place at the St. Simons Casino Theatre July 17-20 and 24-27 at 7:30 p.m., and July 20-21 and 27-28 at 3:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, students (13-22) $8, and children (12 and under) $5.
