Hernan Stutzer and Alberto Llano met in culinary school in Florida. While there, they frequently talked about what it would be like to be able to one day open their own restaurant. A year after graduating, their long conversations of the dream of opening a restaurant became a reality. Del Sur Artisan Eats opened in Miami, Florida in 2012. Del Sur quickly became a go-to spot for Miami locals seeking fresh, flavorful food. A few months after opening, Del Sur received awards and recognition, in addition to many wonderful reviews.
In 2013, while vacationing with his family, Hernan visited St. Simons Island and instantly fell in love. He was in awe of the friendliness of the locals as well as the welcoming coastal feel of such a lovely island. He quickly realized this way of life was what he wanted for his family. Hernan felt this was an excellent place to raise his two young children and began looking for a location for the next Del Sur. After many trips to St. Simons Island to find just the right spot for the restaurant, he discovered the availability of the location on the corner of Mallery Street and Ocean Boulevard formerly occupied by The 4th of May Café.
The dishes prepared at Del Sur are influenced by the cuisines of Argentina and Italy. They offer appetizer selections like homemade empanadas and creamy polenta in a jar to main dishes that include short ribs over prosecco risotto, pear and gorgonzola ravioli with marsala wine reduction and fresh figs, Angus skirt steak with rosemary sea salt an steak fries, and vegetables parrillada.
Del Sur
Hernan and his partners believe in serving fresh food, working hard to keep it in its truest form. They only use the highest quality ingredients and make all of their food from scratch. Del Sur features local produce and uses the finest cuts of meat. Their pasta is homemade, as are all of their stocks, broths, and soups. Even all of the desserts are made in house. To complement the dining experience, Del Sur offers an excellent selection of boutique wines from small vineyards. An enjoyable ambiance and quality service is just as important to them as providing the delicious food that they love.
Since the many trips to find Del Sur’s location, Hernan, and his wife, Victoria, have relocated their family and are proud to call St. Simons Island their new home. They are excited to make Del Sur part of a wonderful community and invite customers and soon-to-be friends to their dining room.
