Ocean Lodge
It’s no secret that the Ocean Lodge was chosen as one of the Top 25 Hotels in the Nation in 2012 and ranked in the Top Ten Hotels for Romance in Trip Advisor’s 2012 & 2013 Travelers’ Choice Awards. The local luxury boutique hotel does, however, have some new developments to share: hospitality veteran Mac Miller has stepped in as Food and Beverage Manager and Suzanne Harnage is the new Events Coordinator. Fresh faces, fresh ideas, and a renewed dedication to making Ocean Lodge an attractive destination for travelers and island residents alike.
Mac Miller started out in the restaurant business as a teenager working for his dad, Franklin, at Bennie's Red Barn. When Franklin passed away in 1994, Mac became a co-owner and Manager. He left Bennie’s in 2007, and for the past few years has been a stay-at-home dad while wife, Leslie, worked as an attorney. “I've always known that I wanted to get back into the restaurant business, and The Rooftop at Ocean Lodge has been the perfect opportunity,” says Mac.
Miller became Food and Beverage Manager in the beginning of August and is working with Events Coordinator, Suzanne Harnage, to book more events, such as weddings, company Christmas parties, and corporate retreats. Suzanne came to Ocean Lodge following 3 years as the manager for the I-95 Toyota rental car department and extensive prior business managerial experience. Miller says, “My goal is to make Ocean Lodge and The Rooftop Restaurant the premier destination for visitors and, more importantly, locals.”
The Rooftop Restaurant is open for lunch Friday through Sunday, and for dinner every night of the week. Mac says they’ve made some seasonal changes to the menu and are adding new promotions and specials at the bar, so stop in to see what’s new.
