What a reason to smile! The Davis Love Foundation, host organization for The McGladrey Classic, an Official Event of the PGA TOUR held at Sea Island Golf Club, recently announced that the 2014 event raised more than $930,000 for children and family charities. This makes to total charitable contribution of the tournament over its five-year span more than $2.7 million. That’s an amazing investment in our community.
Held in conjunction with The McGladrey Classic, the Birdies Fore Love program launched in 2012 encourages individuals to make donations and guess the number of birdies that will be made during the four competitive rounds of the tournament. In 2014, the program raised more than $467,000 for charity. Birdies Fore Love is strongly supported by the offices of title sponsor McGladrey LLP, the nation’s leading provider of assurance, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market.
“McGladrey has a long history of stewardship in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Joe Adams, managing partner and CEO for McGladrey. “The McGladrey Classic and Birdies Fore Love provide our employees and clients with additional opportunities to give back, and we are proud of the way that they have generously supported deserving charitable organizations nationwide.”
The charitable funds raised by the tournament and Birdies Fore Love program are distributed by the Davis Love Foundation. DLF was founded in 2005 by 20-time PGA Tour winner, Team McGladrey member, and Chairman of The McGladrey Classic, Davis Love III and his wife Robin with a mission to help build a better future for children and families who are at risk of poor educational, economic, social and health outcomes. They believe strongly that supporting national and community-based programs that focus on children and their families contributes to the well-being and progress of society.
“Our Foundation is committed to positively impacting children and family charities through the dollars raised by The McGladrey Classic,” said Davis Love III. “It is our privilege to continue the PGA TOUR’s tradition of charitable giving.” He adds, “When we first announced that there would be a PGA TOUR event in the Golden Isles, we knew it would have far-reaching charitable and economic impact. Spectators, volunteers, sponsors, PGA TOUR pros and their families love coming here. It’s rewarding to showcase our area on a world stage and to generate such a strong positive charitable and economic impact.”
Here’s to five years of amazing success that is certain not only to continue, but to have a lasting positive impact on our community. The tournament will return in 2015 on November 16-22. We hope to see you there!
