Vixen EIL
A chance encounter between classmates and a cheery phone call between kindred spirits led Elegant Island Living to team up with a few vivacious Vixens as they launched their new brand of vodka created with the female palate in mind. Crafted by Mile High Spirits in Denver and made from corn and pure spring water, Vixen is distilled five times in one of only a few glass stills in the world. The product is a high-quality, gluten-free spirit smooth enough to be enjoyed on the rocks and versatile enough to complement a wide variety of mixers. It was the brain child and dream of three savvy and sassy Southern women who conceived on the notion right here on the beach while on a girls’ weekend to St. Simons Island.
Brand founders LeeAnn Maxwell, Jenny Policky and Carrie King embraced the “why not?” philosophy of life, tossed back a few more cocktails, and put their extensive sales and marketing backgrounds to work to create not a product, but a brand that stood for the qualities that they hope to inspire in others: independence, courage, sass, and a lust for life. Now, three years later, their “lust in liquid form” is on shelves and in restaurants and drinking establishments throughout Georgia. In May, EIL had a great time co-hosting Vixens’ Nights Out at Coastal Kitchen, with the support of The Still & Winery. Who doesn’t love a night out with specialty cocktails, music on the deck, and fun with friends?!
The brand is taking off, and LeeAnn explains why: “The three of us are in our 30s, 40s, and 50s. We are our target audience--we speak their language. Vodka is a woman’s spirit of choice. It’s crisp, clean, figure-friendly, and light. We negated the burn factor that vodka has. But Vixen is not just about the vodka, it’s a brand that is shaking up an entire category. It’s giving women what they want. It’s about following your dreams.” Carrie adds, “It takes unique branding to stand out in such a competitive category. Honestly, there is not another brand like ours in the spirits category. We stand for strength and real women, so much so that the legs in our logo are a real woman’s legs. We want our brand to bring out the inner vixen in everyone, because let’s face it, there’s nothing wrong with being sexy, sassy, and strong.” LeeAnn, Jenny, and Carrie are all of those things and more, and we hope to see them back on the island soon.
