CristoFouri Grand Piano Concert
Musician Jerry Gowen is one of those hidden local talents that often go unnoticed. Regulars at the Jekyll Island Club or the Cloister know him as the talented pianist playing dinner music, but few people in this area have experienced the breadth of his abilities. He is a pianist, conductor, and arranger who spent 25 years in Nashville playing with country greats. Locals will have the opportunity to see him perform with the grand piano quartet CristoFouri on Sunday, April 26th at 3pm at the Glynn Academy Auditorium.
Born in Folkston, Georgia, Mr. Gowen’s experience spans from working with symphony orchestras to bluegrass bands across America and Europe. Gowen spent 17 years working in various capacities at Opryland, USA where he was responsible for the integrity of the musical shows. He was able to accompany several Country Music Hall of Fame members and was instrumental in the early careers of Lonestar, Chely Wright and Diamond Rio. He has also performed for television specials such as “Grand Ole Opry Live”, “Nashville Now!”, and “Porter Wagoner at Opryland”.
Gowen currently teaches piano and vocal coaching at the St. Simons Conservatory of Music, operates Gowen Digital, and freelances at various venues in South Georgia and North Florida. Jerry has released one solo piano CD, “Places and Faces” on the Pebblehill label.
Jerry Gowen will be performing with Ed Barr, Michael Braz, and Jerry Roberson in the grand piano quartet CristoFouri. They will be joined by special guest vocalist Joan Cullen to perform songs from Broadway to the Beatles at the Glynn Academy Auditorium on Sunday, April 26th at 3pm.
