"Everyone has a Big Fish Moment. Mine was several years ago at the Rich Products Redbone Celebrity Classic with a 40+inch Redfish. Despite having caught only one fish in two days, I still received the Biggest Fish Award. I think it was beginner’s luck and a great captain."

"I have always loved fishing. It’s a good thing, because as a mom of two boys and with a husband who loves the outdoors, I have lots of fishing ahead of me."

"One of my fondest memories is when Pete and I, his father, and our two boys, Josh and Will, were coming in from a long day of fishing. Pete and I look back and see Big Daddy sitting in a bean bag with a boy under each arm, all three fast asleep."

"My favorite day fishing was in the Abacos on my first attempt to catch a blue marlin. Within 15 minutes it was, “fish on,” as they say! It would be a quick 45 minutes later that I met my new 550 pound blue marlin friend at the boat! Captain Marvin Steiding, of Reel Candy Sportfishing, said I should probably stop my marlin career that day because it didn’t get any better or lucky than that. It was the best day ever (except for my wedding and the birth of my children, of course.)"

"I don’t really know much about actual fishing, but I love to go as I really enjoy being on a boat.
However, I do know more about eating fish because my husband’s family business is The Crab
Trap!"

This holiday season will mark the 45th Annual Gala Event. The Coastal Christmas Gala - A Seaside Holiday Celebration is planned to take place later this year on a new date to be announced. Sea Island will host the premier holiday affair at The Cloister Ballroom. Guests will enjoy an elegant black tie evening, seated dinner, and dancing. This is a terrific opportunity to get a few extra special presents under your tree from the very best live and silent auctions. There is no better way to support the American Cancer Society and enjoy the magic and excitement of our coastal Christmas season.
In addition to the gala, the Victory Board will be hosting a luncheon this fall at the newly renovated King and Prince Beach Hotel. Keeping with the theme of December’s gala, the luncheon will highlight Georgia’s barrier islands, their history and culture. A screening of “Polar Express” is also planned later in the year. Details will be announced closer to the events.
So join the Victory Board on the water and stay aboard for the rest of the events this year too. Let’s help the American Cancer Society land their best catch yet—a cure.
